The June 2009/2nd Quarter crime statistics have been posted on our site for public review.

Citizens,

We've just added our statistics summaries for June 2009 and 2nd Quarter 2009 on our website at http://www.tyrone.org/crimestats for your review. We experienced a slight decrease in overall crime in June 2009 and thefts continue to be our most prevalent crime type, so please continue to make sure that your valuables are secure and remember to lock your vehicles at night as we continue to see entering auto cases where the vehicles were unlocked.

I also want to remind our readers to call 911 or 770-461-HELP (4357) immediately if you witness suspicious persons, vehicles, or activity in your neighborhood. Our officers apprehended a burglary suspect this week thanks to a citizen calling in a suspicious vehicle in their area. The suspect was charged with four felony counts including burglary, possession of controlled substances, and possession of burglary tools. The suspect also had in his possession a handwritten list of addresses of homes under construction from all over the Atlanta Metro Area, including the address of the home he had just removed copper wiring and pipes from here in Tyrone. The Tyrone address was the only one that had been crossed off the list, but our officers contacted the affected agencies just in case and none reported having any burglaries at those locations. Needless to say, our citizen thwarted several crimes in the Metro Area with one phone call!

Our officers are here to respond to your requests for service, no matter how trivial they may seem to you so please do not hesitate to call us. Better safe than sorry!

If you have any questions about our crime reports, or about crime in Tyrone, please send me an email or give me a call and I will be happy to help.

Have a safe weekend.

Pictured (l-r) are Shannon Karafanda, Samantha Regi, and Taylor Fancera

The Lighthouse Church’s children raised over $400 during their Vacation Bible School for the Mississippi Gulf Coast recovery project. As an incentive, Rev. Shannon Karafanda set a goal of $300 and if reached would turn her hair green.
